Nonostante non ci siano cambiamenti chimici ai suoi componenti, le proprietà fisiche di una miscela, come il suo punto di fusione, possono differire da quelle dei componenti. Alcune miscele possono essere separate nei loro componenti mediante mezzi fisici. Azeotropes può essere considerato come una sorta di miscela che solitamente presenta notevoli difficoltà nei processi di separazione richiesti per ottenere i loro componenti.

Despite that there are no chemical changes to its constituents, the physical properties of a mixture, such as its melting point, may differ from those of the components. Some mixtures can be separated into their components by physical means. Azeotropes can be considered as a kind of mixture which usually pose considerable difficulties regarding the separation processes required to obtain their constituents.
