Monodia
Nella poesia, il termine monodie è diventato specializzato per riferirsi a una poesia in cui una persona lamenta un'altra morte. (Nel contesto della letteratura antica greca, una sola cosa, si può semplicemente riferirsi alla poesia lirica cantata da un singolo esecutore, piuttosto che da un coro.) Nella musica, la monografia ha due significati: 1) viene talvolta usato come sinonimo di monofonia , Una sola linea solista, in opposizione all'omofonia e alla polifonia; E 2) nella storia della musica, è uno stile vocale solista caratterizzato da una sola linea melodica e da accompagnamento strumentale. Sebbene tale musica si trovi in varie culture durante la storia, il termine è specificamente applicato alla canzone italiana del primo Seicento, in particolare dal periodo 1600 al 1640.
