Nella fisica, il multiplet può significare: ▪ un gruppo di linee spettrali correlate ▪ un gruppo di particelle subatomiche correlate L'esempio più noto è un multipleto di spin, che è una rappresentazione di gruppo di un sottogruppo SU dell'algebra di Lorentz. Ad esempio, un singolo spin è una rappresentazione banale, un dubbone di spin è una rappresentazione fondamentale e un tripletto di spin è una rappresentazione vettoriale. In altri casi, il termine multipleto si riferisce di solito alla rappresentazione fondamentale di un'algebra del calibro. Ad esempio, in QCD, i quark sono in un multiplet di SU.
