Nazionalità
La nazionalità è il rapporto giuridico tra una persona e uno Stato. La nazionalità normalmente conferisce una certa tutela della persona da parte dello Stato e alcuni obblighi verso la persona verso lo Stato. Questi diritti e doveri variano da paese a paese. Differisce tecnicamente e legalmente dalla cittadinanza, anche se nella maggior parte dei paesi moderni tutti i cittadini sono cittadini dello Stato e tutti i cittadini sono cittadini dello Stato. In alcuni casi, determinazioni di nazionalità sono altresì disciplinate dal diritto internazionale pubblico - ad esempio, dai trattati sull'abitudine e dalla Convenzione europea sulla cittadinanza. In inglese, la stessa parola viene usata nel senso di un gruppo etnico.
