도장은 일본 무술 훈련 장소입니다. 단순한 지역보다 더 많은 것은 마치 개업의 집처럼 존중되어야합니다. 따라서 일본인 가정에서와 마찬가지로 입원하기 전에 개업자를 구경하는 것이 일반적입니다. 임기가 명상, 집중, 호흡, 신체 운동 등을 연습했던 계몽의 장소를 의미하는 선불교에서 빌린 용어입니다. kanjis의 경우 "dō"은 "도로", "도로"또는 "트레일", "jō", "place", "physical space", "place"를 의미합니다. 그것은 보통 유도, 합기도, 가라데 등의 아카데미로 불린다. dojo와 같지만, 그것은 다른 것들에 관한 것입니다. Dojo é o local onde se treinam artes marciais japonesas. Muito mais do que uma simples área, o dojo deve ser respeitado como se fosse a casa dos praticantes. Por isso, é comum ver o praticante fazendo uma reverência antes de adentrar, tal como se faz nos lares japoneses. O termo foi emprestado do Zen Budismo, significando lugar de iluminação, onde os monges praticavam a meditação, a concentração, a respiração, os exercícios físicos e outros mais. Decompondo-se a nos kanjis, ver-se-á que «dō» quer dizer «caminho», «estrada» ou «trilha», e «jō», «lugar», «espaço físico», «sítio». Costuma-se referir a um academia de judô, aiquidô, caratê etc. como um dojô, mas se trata de coisas distintas. A palavra «dojô» somente se refere ao espaço físico onde se desenvolve o treino de uma arte marcial japonesa, enquanto academia se refere ao sítio onde se pratica alguma modalidade esportiva, ou não. Logo, «dojô» é o lugar onde se pratica o «caminho de uma arte marcial». Isto quer dizer que um pintor alcança a felicidade pintando, um médico realizando cirurgias e um budoca praticando uma arte do budo.
