Klimat
Klimat jest miarą średniego wzoru zmian temperatury, wilgotności, ciśnienia atmosferycznego, wiatru, wytrącania, liczby cząstek atmosferycznych i innych zmiennych meteorologicznych w danym regionie przez dłuższe okresy czasu. Najczęściej stosowany schemat klasyfikacji został opracowany przez Wladimira Köppena. System Thornthwaite, stosowany od 1948 roku, zawiera ewapotranspirację wraz z informacjami o temperaturze i opadach oraz wykorzystuje się do badania różnorodności gatunków zwierząt i potencjalnych skutków zmian klimatycznych.
