Komunistyczna Międzynarodówka, zwana Kominternem i znana jako Trzecia Międzynarodówka, była międzynarodową organizacją komunistyczną zainicjowaną w Moskwie w marcu 1919 r. Międzynarodowa walka "za pomocą wszelkich dostępnych środków, w tym sił zbrojnych, w celu obalenia międzynarodowej burżuazji i za utworzenie międzynarodowej republiki radzieckiej jako etapu przejściowego do całkowitego zniesienia państwa ". Komintern powstał po konferencji Zimmerwald w 1915 roku, w której Vladimir Lenin zorganizował "Zimmerwald Left" przeciwko tym, którzy nie zgodzili się zatwierdzić żadnego oświadczenia wyraźnie popierającego socjalistyczne działania rewolucyjne, a po rozwiązaniu II wojny światowej w 1916 roku. Komintern miał siedem światowych kongresów w latach 1919 i 1935. Miał także trzynaście "powiększonych plenów" w rządzącym komitecie wykonawczym, które miały taką samą funkcję, jak niektóre większe kongresy. Komintern został oficjalnie rozwiązany przez Józefa Stalina w 1943 roku.
