Humanizm jest postawą filozoficzno-etyczną, która podkreśla wartość i agencję ludzką, indywidualnie i zbiorowo, a w ogóle woli krytycznego myślenia i dowodów na temat ustalonej doktryny lub wiary. Znaczenie terminu "humanizm" wahało się, zgodnie z kolejnymi ruchami intelektualnymi, które z nim się identyfikowały.
