Poprawność polityczna to pojęcie odnoszące się do wymuszonego języka, idei lub polityk, które dotyczą postrzeganej dyskryminacji ze strony grup politycznych, społecznych lub ekonomicznych. Do grup tych należą przede wszystkim te, które określają płeć, rasę, religię, pochodzenie etniczne, orientację seksualną, wiek i niepełnosprawność. Historycznie termin ten był potocznym stosowanym w komunistycznych i socjalistycznych wczesnych latach do połowy 20 wieku w debatach politycznych, odnoszących się pejoratywnie do komunistycznej "linii partii", która zapewniała "prawidłowe" stanowiska w wielu sprawach politycznych. Termin został przyjęty w późniejszym XX wieku przez nową lewicę, stosowany z pewnym humorem do potępienia zachowań seksistowskich lub rasistowskich jako "nie poprawny politycznie".
