Calypso, nimfa na wyspie Ogygia, o której mówi się, że rozbił się Odyseusz. W połączeniu z bohaterem, Calypso obiecał jej nieśmiertelność, prosząc ją, by została z nią. Poruszony tęsknotą do powrotu do Itaki bez zwłoki, Odyseusz nie chce się zgodzić. Zostaje zatrzymany na siedem (po innym wariancie przez dziesięć lat) przez Calypso, który ostatecznie rozkazuje Zeusowi puścić swoją podróż (w. i Odyseusz). Calypso, nimfă din insula Ogygia, unde se spunea că ar fi naufragiat Odysseus. Îndrăgostindu-se de erou, Calypso i-a făgăduit nemurirea, cerîndu-i în schimb să rămînă pururi lîngă ea. Mînat de dorul de a se întoarce neîntîrziat în Ithaca, Odysseus refuză să se învoiască. El e reținut totuși timp de șapte (după o altă variantă – timp de zece) ani de către Calypso care, în cele din urmă, la porunca lui Zeus îi dă drumul, lăsîndu-l să-și continue călătoria (v. și Odysseus).
