prov. empenher, v. fr. empeindre, cat. empenyer. Var. pinge, foarte rară, nu este reprezentantă directă a
lat. pingere, ci a rezultat cu afereză de la
(m)pinge. –
Der. împingător, adj. (stimulant, incitant; instigator);
împinsătură, s. f. (împingere; apăsare). DAR, urmîndu-l pe Giuglea,
Dacor., III, 734, consideră că
împinge „a cheltui”, „a face eforturi economice” reprezintă
lat. impendĕre, cu aceeași confuzie cal
încinde-încinge; însă
ex. aduse nu sînt convingătoare, și se explică mai bine prin
lat. impĭngĕre.
