Anemia
Anemia; é uma diminuição no número de glóbulos vermelhos ou inferior à quantidade normal de hemoglobina no sangue. A anemia também pode ser diagnosticada onde há diminuição da capacidade de ligação ao oxigênio de cada molécula de hemoglobina devido a deformidade ou falta de desenvolvimento numérico como em alguns outros tipos de deficiência de hemoglobina. O nome é derivado do grego antigo: ἀναιμία anaimia, que significa "incêndio", de ἀν- an-, "not" + αἷμα haima, "sangue". Como a hemoglobina normalmente transporta oxigênio dos pulmões para os capilares, a anemia leva a hipoxia nos órgãos. Como todas as células humanas dependem do oxigênio para a sobrevivência, diferentes graus de anemia podem ter uma ampla gama de conseqüências clínicas. A anemia é o transtorno mais comum do sangue. Os vários tipos de anemia são produzidos por uma variedade de causas subjacentes.
