Deslocamento angular
O deslocamento angular de um corpo é o ângulo em radianos (graus, revoluções) através do qual um ponto ou linha foi girado em um sentido específico sobre um eixo especificado. Quando um objeto gira em torno de seu eixo, o movimento não pode simplesmente ser analisado como uma partícula, pois em movimento circular ele sofre uma velocidade e aceleração em qualquer momento (t). Ao lidar com a rotação de um objeto, torna-se mais simples considerar o próprio corpo rígido. Um corpo geralmente é considerado rígido quando as separações entre todas as partículas permanecem constantes em todo o movimento dos objetos, de modo que, por exemplo, partes da sua massa não voam. No sentido realista, todas as coisas podem ser deformáveis, no entanto, esse impacto é mínimo e insignificante. Assim, a rotação de um corpo rígido sobre um eixo fixo é referida como movimento rotacional. No exemplo ilustrado à direita, uma partícula no objeto P a uma distância fixa r da origem, O, girando no sentido anti-horário. Torna-se importante então representar a posição da partícula P em termos de suas coordenadas polares (r, θ).
