Burundi / bərʊndɨ /, oficialmente a República do Burundi, é um país sem litoral na região africana dos Grandes Lagos do Sudeste da África, cercada por Ruanda ao norte, Tanzânia a leste e sul e à República Democrática do Congo a oeste. Também é considerado como parte da África Central. A capital de Burundi é Bujumbura. Embora o país esteja sem litoral, grande parte da fronteira sudoeste é adjacente ao lago Tanganyika. Os povos de Twa, Hutu e Tutsis viveram no Burundi há pelo menos quinhentos anos e, durante mais de duzentos anos, Burundi foi governado como um reino.
