Chardonnay
Chardonnay é uma variedade de uva de pele verde usada para fazer vinho branco. Originou-se na região vinícola de Borgonha do leste da França, mas agora é cultivada onde quer que o vinho seja produzido, da Inglaterra à Nova Zelândia. Para regiões vinícolas novas e em desenvolvimento, Chardonnay em crescimento é visto como um "rito de passagem" e uma fácil entrada no mercado internacional de vinhos. Em climas frios, o Chardonnay tende a ser de corpo médio a leve com acidez e sabores visíveis de ameixa verde, maçã e pera. Em locais mais quentes, os sabores se tornam mais cítricos, pêssegos e melões, enquanto em locais muito quentes mais notas de figas e frutas tropicais, como banana e manga. Os vinhos que atravessaram a fermentação malolática tendem a ter uma acidez mais suave e sabores de frutas com notas de aveludada e notas de avelã.
