Ignitron
Um ignitron é um tipo de tubo cheio de gás usado como retificador controlado e datado da década de 1930. Inventado por Joseph Slepian enquanto empregado pela Westinghouse, a Westinghouse era o fabricante original e possuía direitos de marca comercial para o nome "Ignitron". Os inflamadores estão intimamente relacionados às válvulas de arco de mercúrio, mas diferem da forma como o arco é inflamado. Eles funcionam de maneira semelhante aos thyratrons; um pulso de disparo para o eletrodo do ignitor liga o dispositivo "on", permitindo que uma alta corrente flua entre os eletrodos do cátodo e do ânodo. Depois que ele é ligado, a corrente através do ânodo deve ser reduzida a zero para restaurar o dispositivo ao seu estado não condutor.
