Hipermetropia
A hipermetropia, vulgarmente conhecida como hipermetropia, é um defeito de visão causado por uma imperfeição no olho, causando dificuldade em se concentrar em objetos próximos e, em casos extremos, causando um sofredor incapaz de se concentrar em objetos em qualquer distância. À medida que um objeto se move em direção ao olho, o olho deve aumentar sua potência óptica para manter a imagem focada na retina. Se o poder da córnea e da lente for insuficiente, como na hipermetropia, a imagem parecerá desfocada. Pessoas com hipermetropia podem experimentar visão turva, asthenopia, disfunção acomodatícia, disfunção binocular, ambliopia e estrabismo, outra condição que freqüentemente causa uma visão quase vazia. Presbyopes que relatam boa visão distante geralmente experimentam uma visão próxima embaçada por causa de uma amplitude acomodativa reduzida provocada por mudanças naturais de envelhecimento com a lente cristalina.
