Muonium
Muonium é um átomo exótico formado por um antimuão e um elétron, que foi descoberto em 1960 e recebeu o símbolo químico Mu. Durante a duração de 2,2 μs do muon, o muonium pode entrar em compostos como o cloreto de muão (MuCl) ou o muonido de sódio (NaMu). Devido à diferença de massa entre o antimuão e o elétron, o muonium (μ + e) é mais parecido com o hidrogênio atômico (p + e-) do que o positronium (e + e-). Seu raio Bohr e energia de ionização estão dentro de 0,5% de hidrogênio, deutério e trítio. Embora o muonium seja de curta duração, os químicos físicos o utilizam em uma forma modificada de espectroscopia de ressonância de spin eletrônico para a análise de transformações químicas e a estrutura de compostos com propriedades eletrônicas novas ou potencialmente valiosas. (Esta forma de ressonância de spin de elétrons (eSR) é chamada de ressonância de rotação de muão (μSR).) Existem variantes de μSR, e. rotação de rotação de muão, que é afetada pela presença de um campo magnético aplicado transversalmente à direção do feixe de muão (uma vez que os muões são tipicamente produzidos em um estado de polarização de rotação a partir da decomposição de pions) e evitou o cruzamento de nível (ALC), que é também chamado de ressonância de cruzamento de nível (LCR).
