Estrabismo
O estrabismo, também conhecido como heterotropia, é uma condição em que os olhos não estão devidamente alinhados entre si. Normalmente, envolve uma falta de coordenação entre os músculos extra-oculares, o que impede o olhar de cada olho no mesmo ponto do espaço e, assim, dificulta a visão binocular adequada e que pode afetar negativamente a percepção da profundidade. O estrabismo é administrado principalmente por oftalmologistas, optometristas e ortopedistas. Estrabismo está presente em cerca de 4% das crianças. O tratamento deve ser iniciado o mais rápido possível para assegurar o desenvolvimento da melhor acuidade visual possível e estereopsis.
