O ohm é a unidade de resistência elétrica SI derivada do físico alemão Georg Simon Ohm. Embora várias unidades padrão empíricamente derivadas para expressar resistência elétrica tenham sido desenvolvidas em conexão com a prática de telegrafia inicial, a Associação Britânica para o Avanço da Ciência propôs uma unidade derivada de unidades de massa, comprimento e tempo existentes e de um tamanho conveniente para o trabalho prático como cedo como 1861.
