Timberyard Records foi uma gravadora pioneira no movimento de música independente australiano da década de 1980. Timberyard Records foi estabelecido em 1985 em Newtown, Nova Gales do Sul por Michael Danias. Inicialmente liberando proeminentes atos subterrâneos de Sydney, como Box the Jesuit, Candy Harlots, The Dubrovniks, Girl Monstar, Johnny Teen e Broken Hearts e os Zen Genies. Em 1989, o rótulo lançou uma compilação de Natal, o Rockin 'Bethlehem, que contou com uma série de bandas do rótulo, incluindo The Dubrovniks, Ratcat, Girl Monstar, Steve Kilbey, Damien Lovelock, The Jackson Code e Lime Spiders. Os ganhos das vendas do álbum foram para o Camperdown Children's Hospital. Em 1990, o rótulo lançou um segundo álbum de compilação de Natal, Rockin 'Bethlehem - The Second Coming, que apresentou The Falling Joys, Painters and Dockers, Ed Kuepper, The Screaming Tribesmen, Archie Roach e Paul Kelly. Também nesse ano, você assinou com Timberyard, com o rótulo divulgando os dois primeiros EPs da banda, Snake Tide em maio de 1991 e Goddamn em maio de 1992.
