O Viewdata é uma implementação do Videotex. É um tipo de serviço de recuperação de informações no qual um assinante pode acessar um banco de dados remoto através de um canal de transporte comum, solicitar dados e receber dados solicitados em uma exibição de vídeo em um canal separado. Samuel Fedida foi creditado como inventor do sistema. Fedida teve a ideia para o Viewdata em 1968. O primeiro protótipo tornou-se operacional em 1974.
