Worsted / wʊstɨd / é um tipo de fio, o tecido feito a partir deste fio e uma categoria de peso de fio. O nome deriva de Worstead, uma aldeia no condado inglês de Norfolk. Esta aldeia, juntamente com North Walsham e Aylsham, tornou-se um centro de fabricação de fios e pano no século 12, quando o recinto de pastagem e a calagem renderam o solo de East Anglian, muito rico para as raças de ovinos agrárias mais antigas; e as tecladistas da Flandres se mudaram para Norfolk.
