Silambam
Silambam ou Silambattam ou Chilambam, é uma tradição dravídica de artes marciais baseada em batalhas de palco. Acredita-se que este estilo tenha se originado no atual Kerala de Bukit Kurinji, há 5.000 anos, nos quais os habitantes locais usam varas de bambu ou rattan para se defender de animais selvagens. Como escreveu Sangam, Bukit Kurinji é uma das cinco divisões fisiográficas em Tamilakam, mais tarde conhecido como Entrada após a chegada do Brahmin. Narikuravar de Bukit Kurinji usa uma vara conhecida como Chilambamboo como uma arma para se defender contra animais selvagens, bem como para demonstrar suas habilidades durante as celebrações religiosas.
