În chimia organică, aromatizarea este o proprietate chimică care descrie modul în care un inel conjugat de legături nesaturate, perechi singure sau orbite goale prezintă o stabilizare mai puternică decât s-ar aștepta doar prin stabilizarea conjugării. Prima folosire a termenului a fost într-un articol al lui August Wilhelm Hofmann din 1855. Nu există o relație generală între caracterul aromatic ca proprietate chimică și proprietățile olfactive ale acestor compuși. Aromaticitatea poate fi, de asemenea, considerată o manifestare a delocalizării ciclice și a rezonanței. Aceasta este de obicei considerată a fi pentru că electronii sunt liberi să circule în jurul aranjamentelor circulare ale atomilor care sunt alternativ uni și dublu legați între ei.
