Vocală tematică
În lingvistica indo-europeană, o vocală tematică sau vocală tematică este vocala * sau * o de la ablaut plasată înainte de încheierea unui cuvânt Proto-indo-european. Substanțele, adjectivele și verbele în limbile indo-europene cu această vocală sunt tematice, iar cele fără ea sunt ateme. Folosit, în general, o vocală tematică este orice vocală găsită la sfârșitul tulpinii unui cuvânt.

Definiția atematică din dicționar nu se bazează pe teme. O altă definiție a atematică are un sufix atașat imediat la tulpină, fără o vocală intervenită.
