Biasul este o înclinație a temperamentului sau a perspectivelor de a prezenta sau deține o perspectivă parțială, adesea însoțită de refuzul de a lua în considerare eventualele merite ale unor puncte de vedere alternative. Oamenii pot fi părtinitori față de un individ, o rasă, o religie, o clasă socială sau un partid politic. Biased înseamnă unilateral, lipsit un punct de vedere neutru, care nu au o minte deschisă. Biasul poate veni în mai multe forme și este adesea considerat sinonim cu prejudecățile sau fanatismul.

I had an immense advantage over many others dealing with the problem inasmuch as I had no fixed ideas derived from long-established practice to control and bias my mind, and did not suffer from the general belief that whatever is, is right.
My experiences with gender bias are probably the norm. What I found was that expectations of women were simply lower, and this resulted in being overlooked for certain opportunities.
