Anno Domini și Înaintea lui Hristos sunt desemnări folosite pentru etichetarea sau numărul de ani folosiți cu calendarele iulian și gregorian. Termenul Anno Domini este latină medievală, tradusă ca în anul Domnului și ca în anul Domnului nostru. 782 Este uneori specificată mai pe larg ca Anno Domini Nostri Iesu Christi. Această epocă a calendarului se bazează pe anul în care a fost conceput în mod tradițional concepția sau nașterea lui Isus din Nazaret, cu AD numărând ani de la începutul acestei epoci, iar BC indicând ani înainte de începerea erei. Nu există anul zero în acest sistem, deci anul 1 d. 1 urmează imediat după anul 1 î.Hr. Acest sistem de datare a fost conceput în 525, dar nu a fost folosit pe scară largă decât după 800.
