Competitivitatea se referă la capacitatea și performanța unei întreprinderi, a unui subsector sau a unei țări de a vinde și furniza bunuri și servicii pe o anumită piață, în funcție de capacitatea și performanța altor firme, subsectoare sau țări pe aceeași piață. Termenul poate fi, de asemenea, aplicat piețelor, unde se face referire la măsura în care structura pieței poate fi considerată ca fiind perfect competitivă. Această utilizare nu are nimic de-a face cu măsura în care firmele individuale sunt "competitive".
