Linie de avertizare timpurie la distanță
Linia de avertizare timpurie, cunoscută și sub numele de linia de avertizare timpurie sau de linie, a fost un sistem de stații radar din regiunea nordică a Arcticii din Canada, cu stații suplimentare de-a lungul coastei de nord și ale insulelor Aleutine din Alaska, în plus față de Faeroe Insulele, Groenlanda și Islanda. A fost înființată pentru a detecta bombardierele sovietice pe care le-au adus în timpul războiului rece și a avertizat timpuriu de orice invazie maritimă și terestră. Linia DEW funcționa din 1957 până la sfârșitul anilor 1980 și a fost cea mai nordică și cea mai capabilă de trei linii radar din Canada și Alaska; linia comună canadiană-americană Pinetree a pornit de la Newfoundland la Insula Vancouver, iar linia Mid-Canada a pornit oarecum spre nord.
