Ergotismul este efectul intoxicării pe termen lung a ergotului, în mod tradițional datorat ingerării alcaloizilor produse de ciuperca Claviceps purpurea care infectează secara și alte cereale și, mai recent, prin acțiunea unui număr de medicamente pe bază de ergoline. Este, de asemenea, cunoscut sub numele de ergotoxicosis, otrăvire ergot și focul Sfântului Anthony. Intoxicarea cu otrăvire este o explicație propusă de amabilitate.
