Eusociality
Eusocialitatea, cel mai înalt nivel de organizare a socialității animalelor, este definită prin următoarele caracteristici: îngrijirea cooperativă a păsărilor, generațiile care se suprapun într-o colonie de adulți și o diviziune a muncii în grupuri de reproducere și non-reproductivă. Diviziunea muncii creează grupuri de comportament specializate în cadrul unei societăți animale, care uneori sunt numite caste. Eusocialitatea se deosebește de toate celelalte sisteme sociale deoarece persoanele din cel puțin o castă își pierd de obicei capacitatea de a efectua cel puțin un comportament caracteristic indivizilor din altă caste. Eusocialitatea este cea mai mare parte observată și studiată la Hymenoptera și Isoptera. De exemplu, o colonie are diferențe de caste; regine și masculi reproducători iau rolurile ca reproducători unici, în timp ce soldații și lucrătorii lucrează împreună pentru a crea o situație vie care să fie favorabilă pentru puii. În plus față de Hymenoptera și Isoptera, există două vertebrate eusoiale cunoscute din ordinul Rodentia, care include șobolanul mol gol și șobolanul molar Damaraland. Cea mai mare parte a persoanelor se ocupă în mod cooperativ de puii de reproducere a unei singure femei de reproducere la care sunt cel mai probabil legate.
