Spiraea tomentosa
Spiraea tomentosa, cunoscută sub denumirea de steeplebush, pădure de pădure, sau hardhack, este o plantă similară caracteristicilor cu S. douglasii. Spiraea tomentosa crește până la patru metri înălțime și preferă umiditatea să uda solul și soarele plin. Înflorește în timpul verii. Flori individuale Steeplebush sunt de aproximativ 1/16 de centimetri lățime și sunt aranjate în grupuri înguste, în formă de piramidă, care pot avea o lungime de până la opt centimetri. Fluturi și alte insecte care hrănesc nectar găsesc florile foarte atractive. Florile sunt urmate de fructe mici, uscate, maro. Are un toment dens de alb-lână care acoperă tulpina și partea inferioară a frunzelor sale. Se remarcă prin proprietățile sale astringente, care determină utilizarea medicamentelor. Zona de rezistență pentru această plantă este listată ca zonele 4 până la 8. Se găsește nativ în estul Statelor Unite și în Canada.
