Stingerea hidrogenului
Stresarea cu hidrogen este procesul prin care diferite metale, cel mai important oțel cu rezistență ridicată, devin fragile și fracturi după expunerea la hidrogen. Stingerea hidrogenului este adesea rezultatul introducerii neintenționate a hidrogenului în metalele sensibile în timpul operațiilor de formare sau de finisare și mărește crăparea în material. Acest fenomen a fost descris pentru prima dată în 1875. Pentru a descrie formarea de hidrură de zirconiu și cracking hidrură întârziată, se folosește de asemenea fragilitatea hidrogenului. Utilizarea termenului în acest context este obișnuită în industria nucleară.
