În mitologia greacă, Hyperboreanii (grecii vechi: Ὑπερβόρε (ι) οι, pronunțați, latină: Hyperborei) erau oameni mitic care au trăit "dincolo de vântul de Nord". Grecii au crezut că Boreas, zeul Vântului de Nord (unul dintre Anemoi sau "Vânturi") a trăit în Tracia și, prin urmare, Hyperborea indică o regiune care se află la nord de Tracia. Acest teren ar fi trebuit să fie perfect, cu soarele strălucind douăzeci și patru de ore pe zi, ceea ce la urechile moderne sugerează o posibilă locație în cadrul cercului arctic.
