Democrație illiberală
O democrație illiberală, numită și pseudo-democrație, democrație parțială, democrație scăzută, democrație liberă sau regim hibrid, este un sistem de guvernare în care, deși au loc alegeri, cetățenii sunt tăiați de la cunoașterea activităților celor care exercită o putere reală din cauza lipsei de libertăți civile. Nu este o "societate deschisă". Există multe țări "care nu sunt nici categorisite ca" libere ", nici" nu libere ", ci ca" probabil libere ", care se încadrează undeva între regimurile democratice și nedemocratice". Aceasta se poate datora faptului că există o constituție care limitează puterile guvernamentale, însă libertățile sale sunt ignorate sau pentru că nu există un cadru constituțional juridic adecvat al libertăților.
