Șurub întrerupt
Un șurub întrerupt sau un fir întrerupt este un dispozitiv mecanic utilizat în mod obișnuit în racordul armetelor de artilerie. A fost inventat circa 1845. Este un șurub care are o secțiune de fir de-a lungul axei sale îndepărtată. Șurubul este cuplat cu o gaură din spatele camerei de armă; adică, în cazul în care șurubul are fire, gaura nu este, și invers. Șurubul poate fi așezat astfel în pistol, după care numai 1/6 dintr-o roată poate fixa sigur cele două seturi de filete, etanșând închiderea. Șuruburile întrerupte sunt văzute ocazional în puștile de pușcă de pușcă, deoarece acest mecanism a fost din punct de vedere istoric unul dintre puținele modalități practice de realizare a unei garnituri de etanșare cu gaz, cu o armă de foc care nu folosește cartușe. O metodă anterioară a fost utilizarea unei pene pentru blocarea spatelui pistolului. Etanșarea a fost îmbunătățită și mai mult cu obturatorul de Bange în 1872. Slăbiciunea majoră a modelelor originale a fost aceea că numai jumătate din circumferința șaibei ar putea fi filetate, de aceea a fost necesară încă o bridă de bloc destul de lungă pentru a obține o blocare sigură.
