Junco
A Junco / dʒʌŋkoʊ /, genul Junco, este o pasăre din America de Nord. Sistematica Junco este încă confuză după decenii de cercetare, cu diverși autori acceptând între trei și doisprezece specii. În ciuda faptului că are un nume care se pare că derivă din termenul spaniol pentru genul de plantă Juncus, aceste păsări sunt rar întâlnite printre plantele de grabă, deoarece acestea preferă terenul umed, în timp ce juncosul este ca solul uscat. Habitatul lor de reproducere este de conifere sau zone mixte de pădure din America de Nord, de la Taiga subarctică până la pădurile montane de mare altitudine din Mexic și America Centrală la sud de Panama. Păsările nordice migrează de obicei mai departe spre sud; populațiile sudice sunt rezidenți permanenți sau imigranți de la altitudine, deplasându-se doar într-o scurtă distanță pentru a evita o vreme de iarnă severă în munți.
