Seria Taylor
În matematică, o serie Taylor reprezintă o reprezentare a unei funcții ca o sumă infinită de termeni care sunt calculate din valorile derivatelor funcției într-un singur punct. Conceptul unei serii Taylor a fost descoperit de matematicianul scoțian James Gregory și introdus oficial de matematicianul englez Brook Taylor în 1715. Dacă seria Taylor este centrat la zero, acea serie este numită și o serie Maclaurin, numită după matematicianul scoțian Colin Maclaurin, care a folosit în mare măsură acest caz special al seriei Taylor în secolul al XVIII-lea. Este o practică obișnuită de a aproxima o funcție utilizând un număr finit de termeni din seria Taylor. Teorema lui Taylor oferă estimări cantitative asupra erorii în această aproximare. Orice număr finit de termeni inițiali ai seriei Taylor a unei funcții se numește polinom Taylor. Seria Taylor a unei funcții este limita polinomilor Taylor ale acestei funcții, cu condiția ca limita să existe. O funcție poate să nu fie egală cu seria Taylor, chiar dacă seria Taylor converge în fiecare punct.
