Pulberea de pin este un material lipicios produs de carbonizarea la temperaturi înalte a lemnului de pin în condiții anoxice. Lemnul este descompus rapid prin aplicarea căldurii și presiunii într-un recipient închis; produsele primare rezultate sunt carbune și gudron de pin. Strugurii de pin constau în principal din hidrocarburi aromatice, acizi de gudron și baze de gudron. Componentele de gudron variază în funcție de procesul pirolitic și de originea lemnului. Alegerea lemnului, proiectarea cuptorului, arderea și colectarea gudronului pot varia. Numai păstăi de pin și rădăcini sunt folosite în producția tradițională de gudron de pin.
