Cazul lui Calvin, Eng.R. 64, 7 Co.Rep. 1a, 77 ER 377 - cunoscută și sub numele de cazul Postnati - a fost o hotărâre judecătorească englezească din 1608 care stabilea că un copil născut în Scoția, după Unirea Coroanelor sub Iacov VI și I în 1603, a fost considerat, potrivit dreptului comun, să fie un subiect de limba engleză și să beneficieze de avantajele legislației engleze. Principiile enunțate în cazul lui Calvin au fost adoptate în cele din urmă de către instanțele din Statele Unite, iar cazul a jucat un rol important în modelarea stăpânirii americane a cetățeniei prin dreptul de naștere prin jus soli. Cu toate acestea, cazul a fost, de asemenea, citat ca furnizând justificarea legală pentru restricționarea drepturilor legale la nativii americani în urma cuceririi lor de către englezi.
