Senat
Un senat este o adunare deliberativă, adesea cea superioară a camerei unei legislaturi sau parlamentului bicameral. Numele provine de la senatul roman antic, așa-numit ca o adunare a membrilor în vârstă și mai înțelepți ai societății sau a clasei conducătoare. Multe țări au în prezent o adunare numită senat, alcătuit din senatori care pot fi aleși, numiți, moșteniți titlul sau câștigați prin alte metode, în funcție de țară.
