Teoria substanței sau teoria atributului de substanță este o teorie ontologică despre obiect. Substanța este un concept cheie în ontologie și metafizică, care poate fi clasificat în varietăți moniste, dualiste sau pluraliste, în funcție de câte substanțe sau indivizi se spune că populează, furnizează sau există în lume. Conform opiniilor moniste, cum ar fi cele ale stoicismului și Spinoza, există doar o singură substanță, respectiv pneumă sau Dumnezeu.
