Fileurile de arbori sunt pești marini arginti de argint din familia Polynemidae. Găsit în apele tropicale și subtropicale din întreaga lume, familia firului conține nouă genuri și 33 de specii. O specie neînrudită, uneori cunoscută sub numele de filet, Alectis indicus, este în mod corespunzător filetul de indian. Dispunând de o lungime cuprinsă între 20 cm în firul cu aripioare negre până la 200 cm în fileturile cu filet de patru picioare și fileturile gigantice de filet africană, filele de filet sunt importante atât pentru pescuitul comercial, ca pește alimente, cât și pentru populația pescarilor. Obiceiul lor de a forma școli mari face ca firul de fier să fie o captură fiabilă și economică.
