Pentastomida
Pentastomida este un grup enigmatic de nevertebrate parazitare, cunoscut sub numele de viermi de limbă, datorită asemănării speciilor din genul Linguatula cu limba vertebratelor. Există aproximativ 130 de specii existente de pentastomide; toți sunt obligați paraziți cu anatomia corespunzătoare degenerată. Adulții viermi de limbă variază de la aproximativ 1 până la 14 centimetri în lungime și paraziți la căile respiratorii ale vertebratelor. Au cinci anexe anterioare. Una este gura; celelalte sunt două perechi de cârlige pe care le folosesc pentru a se atașa la gazdă. Acest aranjament a condus la denumirea lor științifică, adică "cinci deschideri", dar, deși anexele sunt similare la unele specii, numai una este o gură. Numele alternative pentru Pentastomida includ Pentastoma, Linguatulida și Acanthotheca.
