Vertij / vɜrtɨɡoʊ / este un subtip de amețeală în care un pacient prezintă inadecvat percepția mișcării datorită disfuncției sistemului vestibular. [2] [3] [4] Acesta este adesea asociat cu greață și vărsături, precum și o tulburare de echilibru, provocând dificultăți în a sta în picioare sau de mers pe jos. Există trei tipuri de vertij. Primul este cunoscut ca obiectiv [5] [6] și descrie când pacientul are senzația că obiectele din mediul înconjurător se mișcă. Al doilea tip de vertij este cunoscut sub numele de subiectiv [5] [6] și se referă la momentul în care pacientul simte ca și în cazul în care el sau ea se mișcă. Al treilea tip este cunoscut sub numele de pseudovertigo, [7] o senzație intensă de rotație în interiorul capului pacientului.
