Joystick-ul este un dispozitiv de comandă periferic sau general al computerului și jocului video, alcătuit dintr-o tijă verticală în care pivoții se apropie de un capăt și transmit un unghi în două sau trei dimensiuni unui computer. Joystick-ul este adesea folosit pentru a controla jocurile video și de obicei are unul sau mai multe butoane a căror stare poate fi de asemenea citită de calculator. Termenul de joystick a devenit un sinonim pentru controlorii de joc care pot fi conectați la computer atâta timp cât computerul definește intrarea ca "port de jocuri". În plus față de seturile de control, joystick-urile sunt de asemenea folosite pentru controlul mașinilor, cum ar fi ascensoarele, macaralele, camioanele. Joystick é um periférico de computador e videogame pessoal ou um dispositivo geral de controle que consistem em uma vara vertical na qual os pivôs se aproximam de uma extremidade e transmitem seu ângulo em duas ou três dimensões a um computador. O joystick é usado frequentemente para controlar os jogos de vídeo, e têm geralmente um ou mais botões de pressão cujo estado pode também ser lido pelo computador. O termo joystick transformou-se em um sinônimo para controladores do jogo que podem ser conectados ao computador desde que o computador defina a entrada como uma "porta de jogos". Além de controlar jogos, os manches são usados também para controlar máquinas tais como elevadores, guindastes, caminhões. Os joysticks mais diminutos recentemente foram adotados como dispositivos navegacionais para equipamentos eletrônicos menores tais como telefones móveis.
