Abscisa mecanicii cerești, un obiect este în centrul de masă al sistemului de traiectorie, în general, de-a lungul traiectoriei eliptice cel mai apropiat de centrul de greutate și numele punctului în care cel mai îndepărtat. Ayrıca Güneş çevresindeki yörüngeler için benzer şekilde perihelion ve aphelion terimleri kabul edilmiş olup, Ay çevresindeki yörüngeler için de Apollo Projesi esnasında pericynthion ve apocynthion sözcükleri tercih edilmiştir.
