Dört avucet / ævəsɛt / türü, devler ile aynı kuş familyasındaki caddelerden biri olan Recurvirostra cinsidir. Avuçiçilerin uzun bacakları ve uzun, ince, üstten kavisli faturaları var, tercih ettikleri tuzlu veya tuzlu sularda beslenirken yan yana süpürüyorlar. Tüy bazan da kırmızı renkte pişirilir. Bu cins üyeleri ayaklarının ağzına oturur ve kolayca yüzerler. Diyetleri sudaki böceklerden ve diğer küçük canlılardan oluşur. Gevşek sömürgelerde yuvalar. Haliç ayarlarında açıkta kalan kertenkelelerde veya çamurluklarda beslenebilirler. Pied avocet, Kuşların Korunması Kraliyet Derneği'nin amblemidir. Bu, bazı İngiliz kuş gözlemcilerinden yapılan rahatsız edici "Avocet: Exocet" sözlerine neden olur.
