SHADOW SÖZCÜĞÜ İNGILIZCE DİLİNDE NE ANLAMA GELİR?
Gölge
Bir gölge, bir nesnenin engellemesi nedeniyle bir ışık kaynağından gelen ışığın ulaşamadığı bir alandır. Opak bir nesnenin arkasındaki tüm alanı, önünde ışıkla kaplar. Bir gölgenin kesit alanı, iki boyutlu bir siluet veya ışığı engelleyen nesnenin ters projeksiyonudur. Güneş ışığı birçok nesnenin günün belirli saatlerinde gölgeler oluşturmasına neden olur. Güneşin açısı, gökyüzündeki görünür yüksekliği gölgelerde bir değişiklik meydana getirir. Düşük açılar daha uzun gölgeler yaratır. Umbra, penumbra ve antumbra denilen opak bir nesneye çarptıktan sonra herhangi bir nokta olmayan ışık kaynağı tarafından oluşturulan üç farklı gölge parçası vardır. Nokta kaynağı için yalnızca umbra atılır. Bu isimler çoğunlukla astronomik nesneler tarafından gölgelendirilen gölgeler için kullanılır, ancak bazen güneş lekelerinde olduğu gibi karanlık düzeylerini tanımlamak için kullanılırlar. Astronomik bir nesne, belirgin büyüklüğü -4'e eşit veya daha düşük olduğunda insana görünür gölgeler yapar. Halen dünyada görünür gölgeler üretebilen tek astronomik nesne güneş, ay ve doğru koşullar altında Venüs'tür veya Jüpiter'tir.
